The luminaire thermal validation process utilizes precision measurement equipment and thermal chambers designed by Xicato to control the ambient environment and ensure that module specifications for temperature are maintained below the maximum value even in worst case scenarios. Today, hundreds of luminaire variations from manufacturers have received thermal validation from Xicato. In February 2013, Xicato introduced its color consistency and lumen maintenance warranty as a natural outgrowth of the thermal validation program. The warranty – an industry first – is underwritten by Munich Reinsurance Co. based on their evaluation of Xicato’s Corrected Cold Phosphor TechnologyÂ®, product qualification, manufacturing processes and proven field reliability. In October, Xicato introduced an LM-79 testing program that provides luminaire manufacturers with faster, lower cost testing that further builds customer confidence and acceptance of solid-state lighting solutions.
